While you sleep every night, millions of people are out there working and re-working their technological innovations to make your life better. Some of the best technological innovations in the last few decades are those that involve foot orthotics and arch supports. Specifically, you can purchase heat moldable insoles that conform their shape to the exact shape of your foot.
The SOLE Custom Footwear specializes in heat moldable insoles. For example, the SOLE Softec Ultra Custom Footbeds, SOLE Softec Response Custom Footbeds, and SOLE Thin Sport Custom Footbeds are all heat moldable footbeds that support your arches and your heels. Also consider the Sole Softec Casual Footbeds for your dress and casual shoes with a Nubuck Suede top coat.
The difference between them is the top coat layer. The SOLE Thin Sport Custom Footbeds doesn’t have a cushioned top coat; the purpose of this type of footbed would be for tight shoes or shoes with cleats that are used in football, soccer, skating, cycling, track, and/or hockey.
The SOLE Softec Response Custom Footbeds have a 1.6 mm padded top coat. These are great for athletic, casual and even dress shoes. The SOLE Softec Ultra Custom Footbeds have a top coat that is 3.2 mm, great for hiking and biking. Those in the military could use the extra padding as well and if you’re a teacher, standing all day long takes a big toll on the feet.
Here’s the process of how to start using your heat moldable insoles:
1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees.
2. Size your insoles properly. This means you may have to cut or trim them.
3. Bake on a cookie sheet for 2 minutes.
4. The heat moldable insoles will have a little device in them similar to the doneness indicator on a turkey. This device is called an optitherm indicator should turn black. If this fails, give the heat moldable footbeds another minute in the oven. Then remove them from the oven.
5. Add them to your shoes. Stand with feet shoulder width apart wearing the shoes with the heat moldable insoles for two minutes. Don’t overpronate or oversupinate while standing; just stand straight.
6. You’ve completed the process.

An alternative to this process is to just put the insoles in your shoes and allow your body heat to mold them to your feet over a few days.
If you’ve had problems with insoles not fitting your feet exactly, try these and see what happens. Your feet may thank you for them.
