The SOLE Thin Sport Custom Footbeds are well known as a minimalist style insole for cycling, track, cleated shoe insoles, and skates; however, I wore them in both my casual shoes and carhart workboots. The Thin Sport Insoles are an excellent insole (were orthotic support from heel to toe -not to mention the arch) for just about every type of tight-fitting shoes including casual & dress shoes too.
The SOLE Thin Sport Custom Footbeds are both wear-moldable and heat-moldable. Typically, the insoles will form to your natural foot shape over the use of 4 to 5 days -yet, one can speed up the process by easily following the directions, warm the insoles in the oven for 2-3 minutes, and standing on them for another 2-3 minutes for the custom foot fit. Being a neutral arched foot type, I’ve had no problem with both the heat molding process fully forming to my heel and arch shape and it naturally provided adequate heel and arch support throughout.
If you’ve read some of my “Insoles Reviews”, you know I naturally stand on the ball of my feet (or forefoot region) most of the time. Sure -we all bare our weight & absorb the shock of our walk/run deferiently depending on our arch style, leg shape, and ankle angles -for me I tend to solely balance on my forefeet. The SOLE Thin Sport Custom Footbeds do not have any cushioning other than a thin fabric top-coat. While ideal for fitting tight shoes, for me I need more cushioning for use in my everyday life. I prefer the 3.2mm cushion pad on the SOLE Ultra Softec Custom Footbeds; however, if you are looking for a middle ground between with a 1.6mm cushioned pad -select the SOLE Softec Response Custom Footbeds.
Ironically, I discovered another use for the SOLE Thin Sport Custom Footbeds while both wearing my Thin Sports Insoles and preparing this insole review. I took a call from a Canadian Customer whom wore orthotics everyday in all of his shoes and boots. Ironically, his insole of choice are the SOLE Ultra’s (mentioned earlier).
Now he is a big fly-fisher along the Canadian rivers and often his feet get damp and wet -even with the use of wader’s. His statement was that getting ‘water in the waders’ causes any type of insole or orthotic arch support he’s ever worn to cause the padding to delaminate (separate) from the bottom heel/arch stabilizer plate. We discussed the SOLE Thin Sport’s and both agreed that this insole would be ideal for damp conditions and as we speak, just might be making their way up some Canadian river while under foot of a fly fisherman.
The SOLE Thin Sport Custom Footbeds are a light and ideal orthotic arch support for tight-fitting shoes. If orthotic arch support is your primary concern, check out the SOLE Thin Sports at The Insole Store.com Today!
